Arsenal's 'next big transfer'? Wenger talks up Jackson Martinez

The Gunners boss has heaped praise on the Porto striker and believes that his physicality and finishing ability means he would be ideal for the Premier League

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised Porto striker Jackson Martinez and believes he has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League.

Martinez has emerged as one of Europe's hot properties after his exploits for the Portuguese giants, with Wenger a particular admirer of the 28-year-old's finishing ability.

The striker's agent had claimed that Arsenal were keen on a move in 2014 and although the Gunners' boss stopped short at revealing any interest in the Colombian, he does suggest that the forward will soon be on the move.

"He has top physical strengths," Wenger said of Martinez to beIN Sports.

"He is hugely efficient, he is the kind of player who can make room for himself in the box. He could play in the Premier League because he has the body to make the difference. He uses it in a very intelligent way with very short back lift and he's a very good finisher.

''He's on the list of many clubs, you know that. He will be the next big transfer who will give a big smile to Pinto da Costa [Porto's owner]," he added.
